As a coach and trainer I bring with me 20+ years of work experience in Australia and The Netherlands. I frequently collaborate with experts at Sprint Valley (UK), The Design Thinkers Academy and UXinsight. Sharing my knowledge and experience to develop others gives me great satisfaction.
In the past years I have helped train teams at KPN, Philips and National Grid in design thinking and facilitation. I’ve provided exploratory research and workshop facilitation training to international UX researchers. And I have coached UX researchers at KPN, WaterNet and Nationale Nederlanden.
Design thinking
Design Thinking is a human-centred creative problem solving approach. It is a non-linear, iterative process that teams use to understand who they are designing for, challenge assumptions, redefine problems and create innovative solutions to prototype and test.
I coach and train people in creative problem solving using the Design Thinking approach: Discover, Define, Ideate, Prototype and Test. This includes using tools like persona’s, journey maps and stakeholder maps. It also covers ideation techniques and how to make ideas tangible enough for testing.

Design research
Design research (exploratory user experience research) helps us understand and connect with the perspectives, goals and painpoints of our customers and end users. This discovery-oriented research should ideally be done at the start of the design process. It can lead to us thinking differently about products and services and uncover new ways to deliver value. The insights are used to provide direction to product or service strategy.
I coach and train people (often UX researchers) in exploratory design research. This covers the research brief, interviewing, thematic analysis and generating actionable insights.
How does training and coaching work?
As a trainer and coach I provide a safe space for you to develop your skills. You will be encouraged to learn-by-doing and to reflect.
You can choose for one-on-one coaching or to be coached together with a colleague. I am guided by your needs, so the first session is typically spent on establishing your coaching goals. Based on these goals and your current projects, we decide together on how and when I can be most effective as coach.
As a trainer I offer hands-on, interactive training tailored to the learning goals of the group. I prefer small groups so that everybody gets personal attention and has to time share experiences and ask questions.
I also offer open training via UXinsight: https://uxinsight.org/ux-research-training/
Coaching and training can be done online or in-person, in Dutch or English.
